"Watch
as 3 couples share their emotional and physical journey through
the IVF treatment process"
"Finally you can easily see
first hand what the IVF treatment process really entails and
understand the details of the IVF process so that you can
make informed decisions concerning your IVF treatment!"
If
you are undergoing or considering undergoing ivf treatment,
it is your right - you need to be fully informed about every
step of the ivf process. Pamphlets are simply not enough!

Dear
Mother and Father to Be
You
are among the 80 million couples suffering from infertility.
Shockingly,
most couples spend what amounts to being 1/3 of the
median household income on assisted reproductive
technology. What's even more shocking is that the majority
these couples do so hardly understanding what they are receiving!
If
you are committed to or considering undergoing in vitro fertilization,
you are well acquainted with these challenges (to name a few):
-
Feeling as if
you have lost control and this process is taking over
your life.
- Not
understanding the ivf process well enough to know which
questions to ask ivf experts
- Spending
weeks researching information so that you can make an
informed decision.
- Feeling
exhausted from all of the emotional and physical stress
- Feeling
as if no one understands
As if this is not enough, you then have to deal with insensitivy
of those around you who do not have a clue about what you
are going through. Feelings of isolation result, only makes
matter worse when you add the stress of:
- Dealing
with everyone’s “everything will be fine”
mentality
- Everyone
thinking it's your fault for not conceiving
- Feeling
ignored because infertility clinic staff seems too busy
to properly explain ivf procedures and what to expect.
- Friend
and family not understanding how this is affecting you
- Insensitive
comments
You
are not alone. 15%
of the reproductive population in the US alone, share your
experience. There are over 8,000 people searching
the Internet every single day on terms relating to infertility
and IVF!
IVF
is the most common form of infertility treatment and for many
it is the only option.
So…if
in vitro fertilization is the most common form of infertility
treatment and there are so many people wanting to conceive
–
Don’t
you deserve to know step-by step what you are spending $15,000
for without feeling that you are being a burden?
My
husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last 4
years. The series of appointments, tests, medical terms and
the urgency to start treatment soon quickly left us feeling
as if we had lost control of our fertility.
Sure
we understood that there is no guarantee of success and we
were willing to accept that. We then realized that our sense
of loss was due to the fact that we were expected to start
treatment with little details about the process or what to
expect.
We
didn't understand all of the terminology well enough to ask
the appropriate questions and so we left feeling overwhelmed
and confused.
We
learned that we were not alone in feeling that the burden
was on us to try and make sense of all of the information
we had to read. There is a wealth of information to read but
a serious shortage of products that allow you to visually
see all aspects of the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process.
That
is until now!
Consider
being able to:
-
Save hours of your time by gaining a wealth of
information in much less time than reading a book
-
Reduce the feelings of isolation as you witness
other real life couples share their IVF experiences
-
Know what questions to ask your ivf clinic staff
-
Make informed decisions because you understand
the IVF process
-
Creatively educate friends and family so that
they understand how to be supportive
-
Feel more in control of this seemingly out of
control process
Wouldn’t
it be nice to understand how the IVF process affects people
just like you?
Well
this video does exactly that!
Never
before has there been a more powerful and visual representation
of the physical and emeotional aspects of the ivf experience.
It
makes sense of the often highly technical IVF explanations
that you hear from your physician as it happens with other
couples. It’s fresh, real, and one of a kind.
It
is not only valuable information for the couples going through
infertility, but also for the family and friends.
Often
times couples are so desperate to have a baby that they make
the committment even though they don't fully know what to
expect. This leads to couples feelings as if they have lost
all control in trying to conceive their own child. In addition
the family and friends are unaware of what you are going through.
This lack of knowledge often results in insensitive remarks
only adding to the stress of infertility.
As
an infertility patient, I found it nearly impossible to find
videos that explained the IVF process in a way that allowed
me to make an informed decision. That is until I watched this
film.
This
film is valuable to not only patient, but family and friends
also. I have several friends that have gone through IVF and
find this film to be a valuable asset. We only wish we had
access to it earlier.

REVIEW
Howard
W. Jones, Jr., M.D.
It is probably safe to say that most adult couples
know the term, "in vitro fertilization" (IVF) and
understand that it means joining a woman's egg with a man's
sperm in a laboratory dish and placing the embryo (technically
a preembryo) into the woman's uterus for development. It
is also safe to say that what the average couple understands
stops there.
Imagine
then the consternation in a couple who have come to the point
where they are told that IVF is their last best chance to
achieve their reproductive goal.
To
be sure, the nurse and/or the doctor will describe the process,
and there are pamphlets without end to read. But, in this
television age, most of us benefit by and understand better
if our eye can see what our ear is hearing.
This
is the role of the documentary on in vitro fertilization
- TECHNOSTORKS
- by Andrei Kirilenko.
This
documentary highlights three couples as they deal with the
emotional, financial, sociological,
and medical aspects of exactly what is involved
in the in vitro fertilization process.
Specifically,
the viewer sees and hears exactly what is involved
in the injection process designed to recruit more than the
single egg of the normal menstrual period, exactly
what is involved in retrieving that egg, exactly
what is involved in the fertilization process in the in vitro
laboratory, exactly what is involved when the preembryo
is transferred into the uterus, and exactly what
is involved in all of the other innumerable steps.
Lastly,
we see and realize the anxieties of the interval after transfer
until the pregnancy results are available.
This
documentary fills a need for the couple requiring in vitro
fertilization. It can be highly recommended
as an accurate and informed explanation of the IVF process.
Dr.
Howard W. Jones performed the first successful IVF procedure
in the United States. He is Professor Emeritus
of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School,
Professor Emeritus of the Johns Hopkins University School
of Medicine, and Honorary Chairman of the Board of the Jones
Institute for Reproductive Medicine, and a past Chairman of
the American Fertility Society Ethics Committee on Reproductive
Technology.

I
just finished watching the film. I thought it was
wonderful. I was in tears throughout most of it. I
am amazed that there aren't more films like this out
there -- this appears to be the only one!
Thanks
for showing the emotional struggles of infertility.
This is a film I would consider showing to my family
to give them a better idea of what I am going through
and what all of this means. The film made me feel
understood, a feeling I don't get very often when
it comes to this issue! I also learned quite a bit
-- my husband and I have just started treatment and
are doing IUI right now. We get 3 tries before IVF,
which is not covered by insurance (I was very glad
to see a discussion of that in the film as well!).
So I now feel like if we get to that point, I am more
educated going into it.
Thanks
again for making this film. I deeply appreciate it. |

I
purchased your DVD Technostorks last month, viewed
it twice, and thought about writing you numerous times
since. I want to thank you for getting the word out
about the process of going through IVF treatments.
Unless one lives through infertility, one cannot truly
understand the rollercoaster of emotions that we experience.
My
husband and I have been trying to have a family for
more than 10 years. The last 5 years have been spent
going though 9 IUIs and 4 IVFs (one IVF comprised
of 7 natural egg retrievals since I don't respond
to the stims). The journey has been speckled with
overwhelming sadness of our first 2 IVFs failing,
the 3rd resulting in a joyful pregnancy only to be
lost at 8 weeks, and the 4th IVF to be positive initially
but resulting in early m/c. Our next steps are undetermined
as we are financially drained (insurance covers nothing
here in CA) and emotionally spent. I'm sure you can
understand.
Your
video gives a wonderful overview of what we go through
but understandably, it would have to be hours longer
to encompass the entire process. The interviews with
the 3 couples exemplified what so many of us feel
and the clinical aspect was superb. Takes the romance
out of having a baby but it is our reality! The only
thing I would've like to have seen was at least one
of the shots with the long 2 needle administered by
the husband! (Just to show his daily involvement in
the process.)
I
thank you for making this video. I cried watching
it as it brought me back to a time of great anticipation
and hope for a family. It is now among my library
of DVDs and I will gladly loan it out to increase
awareness.
I
wish you much success in your endeavors, and once
again -- thank you so much for Technostorks.
P.S.
I send you and your wife sincere congratulations on
being a success story using IVF! |

I
am a 39 (soon to be forty) year old female living
just near Pittsburgh, PA. My husband and I are in
the midst of our first IVF cycle. To be precise I
go for my egg retrieval tomorrow. I watched your Technostorks
DVD yesterday for the first time with a box of Kleenex
at my disposal.
I
must say I was impressed with the production. It addressed
a lot of the technical as well as emotional issues
that we as a couple face while going thru IVF.
I
showed the DVD to my doctor who runs an affiliate
clinic to the Jones Institute here in Pittsburgh.
He was very interested in seeing the DVD too. My doctor
has met with Dr. Jones whom I also saw praised this
production.
After
watching the video I wished that it would have featured
at least one "older" couple like myself
since our odds are less than younger gals. However
upon reading further about the making of the film
I learned that it was tough to get a few couples to
agree to be filmed in the first place. I can understand
their dilemma. Upon embarking on this journey things
have become very emotional for me and I am finding
it difficult to talk to friends let alone strangers.
I
just wanted to thank you and everyone involved for
taking the time to create such a documentary. It helped
me get thru at least a part of this journey and cleared
a few more things up for me.
I
loved what the psychologist had to say about the "common
thread" that so many couple with this problem
share. She spoke about how so many folks try to tell
us to "just relax and it will happen". I
never realized why such talk irritated me but now
I know. It really is a "blame the victim"
approach. I do not think folks do this intentionally
but none the less it really does feel like they are
trying to say this is "your" fault.
Thanks
again. |
